I'm a photographer and I make hand-bound artist books, fine zines, and large prints for exposition. Lopez Island and its people have been a continuous source of inspiration for me during the 20-plus years I've been photographing, visiting friends and travelling the island.
My current project is a celebration of the Lopez Dump (AKA the Lopez Island Solid Waste Disposal District), especially Take It of Leave It. Through the lens of TIOLI I'm making a portrait of the people of this island community and their reckoning with the challenges of waste disposal, consumption, and interconnectedness – a metaphor for our planet earth. Themes of community, sharing, sustainability, and our relationships to the objects in our lives.
