Oct. 4, 2010: Byzantine Icon Workshop

No previous experience is necessary for this very satisfying art venture. During the 5 day intensive workshop (October 4 - 8) students will complete an image of a 6th century icon, Christ Pantocrator. We will be using acrylic gouache and 23 carat gold leaf. Short meditations and some instruction on the history and purpose of Byzantine iconography begin each day. Other than for instruction and questions, the workshop is generally held in silence with Gregorian Chant and Plainsong as background music. The workshop meets daily from Monday through Friday, 9am through 4:30pm in our studio at 95 Village Road, Lopez Island
