About Lopez Artist Guild
Mission Statement
The Lopez Artist Guild is a Washington state non-profit organization actively sponsoring Visual Arts in shows, events, workshops and scholarships.
Membership
Membership in Lopez Artist Guild is open to anyone who:
- Is involved in the visual arts
- Identifies with our mission, purpose and program
- Has a connection to Lopez Island
- Pays the annual membership fee of $25, due April
- Submits an application
History
Lopez Artist Guild was incorporated July 1, 1924 as ‘Home Economic’s Club’ amended April 14, 1959, as ‘Lopez Island Home Economic’s Club’, amended June 8, 1973, as ‘Lopez Arts and Crafts Association’.
Services and Activities
The Lopez Artist Guild
- Sponsors fund-raisers and art fairs
- Displays art in public places
- Participates in a yearly 'studio tour' to art studios during the Labor Day weekend
- Awards the Shirley Wright Scholarship to selected High School seniors who are Lopez residents
- Grants financial aid to members for materials and equipment
- Provides merchant credit card service via Islander Bank (less the 3% bank fee).
- Arranges year-round art shows at Lopez Center for Community and the Arts
- Holds meetings in the Library meeting room, or in members’ homes
